Explore Barossa Valley

The Barossa Valley is an internationally renowned wine region. You are invited to the winemaker’s laboratory at Penfolds to try your hand at making your own blend of Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvedre. You will then be taken to the top of Mengler’s Hill where you’ll be greeted by a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding countryside and vineyards of Barossa Valley and the greater Barossa wine region.

From here, continue to the village of Angaston and join your wine guide for casual lunch at a local cafe. If you wish, you can also visit Barossa Valley Cheese Company, where many award-winning cow and goats’ milk cheeses are made. The next cellar door visited will be the premium winery of Turkey Flat, where you can sample the traditionally made wines. Here you can also compare their own blend to Turkey Flat’s Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvedre. To complete the day you will visit the boutique producers of Torbreck Vintners, artisans of exceptional Barossa wines.

Safari in Arkaba Conservancy

Arkaba Conservancy is a 60,000 acre private wildlife conservancy in the Flinders Ranges. Enjoy safaris through this ancient landscape that kangaroos, emus and other abundant wildlife call home. Arkaba’s field guides will bring the geological history and pastoral heritage of this region to life, enabling you to fully immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the bush. You can also go fossil hunting and marvel at the ancient rock art from tens of thousands of years ago.

Overnight in Adelaide

South Australia’s capital, Adelaide, is a charming city that has developed differently from the rest of Australia’s major settlements due to it being founded as the planned capital of freely-settled British province in 1836. Regency and Victorian architectural styles are reflected in many of the historic buildings that line the streets and also in the museums, art galleries and other cultural centres. Sporting a Mediterranean climate, it is no stranger to warm summer sunshine and as such offers the cooling respite of spots such as Glenelg Beach, its waves ideal for a day out and a refreshing dip.

Creative Christchurch

Known as the garden city of New Zealand, Christchurch invites you to discover historic architecture, art galleries, parks and landscaped gardens, and the Avon River that meanders through its centre. Flanked by impressive mountain ranges on one side and the South Pacific Ocean on the other, there are endless activities awaiting adventure seekers beyond the city centre. Hike, cycle, kayak and ski, or take to the numerous rivers of the Canterbury region for fly-fishing, jet boating and river rafting.

Get active in the Ahuriri Valley

Find yourself surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of rugged mountain country, wetlands, tussock lands and beech forest. The valley is home to the Ahuriri Conservation Park which extends over 49,000 hectares. One of the highlights of the region is the brightly hued Lake Tekapo, watched over by the humble Church of the Good Shepherd, one of the most photographed buildings in New Zealand. Close by are hot springs and the Mount John Observatory from which you can peer deep into starry nights of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest International Dark Sky Reserve. Take advantage of one of the top fly fishing locations in the world, or head out into the countryside for some hiking, mountain biking or horse riding.

Unwind in Wanaka

Head over the Crown Range to the mellow and stunning Wanaka. This little township has its own glassy lake, epic mountain backdrop, fine dining scene and endless outdoor pursuits. Where nearby Queenstown is the compact, excitable hub with high rise hotels and busy streets, Wanaka is the cooler, calmer equivalent with fewer shops and a more local feel.
