Belize

Galapagos

The lack of large predators on the island group (which sits 600 miles from the Ecuadorian mainland) means that its iconic wildlife – giant tortoises, vibrant birdlife, inquisitive sea lions and so much more – are fearless of humans.

Guatemala

This lush land of volcanoes, serene highland lakes and generous swathes of rolling jungle, also comes rich in colonial Spanish and pre-Colombian Mayan heritage. The magical site of Tikal ensconced in emerald jungle is reason enough alone to visit, then again there is the exquisite, and earthquake-defying, baroque architecture of Antigua too.

Panama
